Mission Statement: The primary function of the Harmar Township Police
Department and the reason for its existence, is to protect all aspects of life and property,
maintain social order and enforce the laws within this Commonwealth, as well as, 
enforcing the ordinances of the Municipality.
The department will always Serve & Protect all the people within its jurisdiction;
always offer respect, serve with absolute fairness, and reach out with extreme
compassion to all we interact with. It will always be our duty to investigate problems, or any incident, and then, seek resolution and sensor a sense of security and safety for all the people we come to serve. We will continue to be dedicated in working with all public partnerships in an effort to diligently improve and enhance the quality and our representation of all the services we provide.
We shall be dedicated in providing a quality working environment and developing each department member with a thorough effective educational training and leadership program standard. We will foster an atmosphere that will promote the officer's safety, as well as their welfare and family well-being.
The department shall always have the mind set of maintaining the public trust, and shall never waiver from holding their self esteem to the highest moral standards in any law enforcement performance or their ethics. Harmar Township Police Department will continuously strive for the vision in reaching an extreme elevated plateau for public excellence, safety and law enforcement professionalism.
The Harmar Township Police Department created in 1955, was originally staffed with two officers. Today the Department is equipped with seven full-time officers and five part-time officers under the leadership of Captain Richard Toney. Utilizing the latest in law enforcement software and technology, our police officers maintain a visible and co-operative relationship with residents and businesses ensuring a secure community in which to thrive.
